Indications of intravitreal avastin (bevacizumab)


Bevacizumab is a highly specific, recombinant, humanized monoclonal (IgG1) antibody
that selectively binds to and neutralizes the biologic activity of human vascular
endothelial growth factor (VEGF) approved by
FDA ( label approved on 07/31/2009 for AVASTIN, BLA no. 125085 ) for
1 Metastatic Colorectal Cancer
2 Non-Squamous Non−Small Cell Lung Cancer
3 Metastatic Breast Cancer
4 Glioblastoma
5 Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma.
Intravitreal bevacizumab has been used in eye for (ocular indications)
1 -Macular oedema due to –
central retinal vein occlusion,
branch retinal vein occlusion
diabetic retinopathy,
uveitis
2- neovascularisation –
Neovascular glaucoma
Proliferative diabetic retinopathy
Wet AMD
Retinopathy of prematurity
